DESCRIPTION:Austin’s Grupo Fantasma enters their 19th year as a band with an exciting new record and a fresh take on their unique sound. With six previous albums in their back catalog\, plus collaborations and backing gigs with the likes of Prince\, Spoon and Los Lobos\, not to mention a GRAMMY award and a loyal fan base\, they are ready to turn people’s heads again with American Music: Vol. VII (Blue Corn Music). \nIt’s been five years since they’ve been in the studio\, and this time around they’re working with the multi-talented Carlos “El Loco” Bedoya\, a highly regarded Miami-based Colombian producer\, audio engineer\, musician\, and songwriter. His credits are extensive\, having worked with artists as diverse and successful as Beyoncé\, Weezer\, and ChocQuibTown. According to the band\, Bedoya “brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience as mixer and engineer as well as huge ears and skills as a musician and songwriter.” In addition\, Grupo has changed recording facilities and composing scenarios\, and are collaborating with special guests more extensively\, as well as experimenting with a lot of new\, interesting instrumentation\, all of which contribute to the record’s familiar yet powerfully fresh vibe.  \nIt’s important to stress that Grupo has always had a special polyglot flavor that is an amalgamation of disparate sonic and thematic elements that defy easy characterization and seem to cohere with an impressive naturalness and grace. It’s an expansive and layered sound too\, with two lead singers\, multiple percussionists\, a big brass section\, prominent electric guitar\, catchy bass lines\, plenty of changes\, and a whole plethora of influences. DESCRIPTION:The Band of Oz was formed in 1967 as a part-time band playing fraternity parties and high school proms all over the South. In 1977 the band went on the road full time. Since that time the band has made an exceptional name for itself throughout the Southeast by playing the top clubs and corporate parties\, and getting excellent reviews along the way. For several years the group has been a guest on most of the major beach concerts in the Carolinas\, Virginia\, and Georgia.  \nThe Band of Oz is one of the most successful groups in the Southeast\, and continues to get the very best reviews from the top people in the entertainment business. SUMMARY:National Jazz Keyboardist Marcus Johnson with special guest\, Willie Bradley
DESCRIPTION:Marcus Johnson is an independent Billboard-ranked\, internationally acclaimed jazz keyboardist\, and NAACP Image Award Nominee. \nWhile pursuing his JD and MBA at Georgetown\, he independently produced and distributed his first CD (Lessons in Love)\, which sold more than 40\,000 units; a phenomenal success for an unknown independent artist’s debut release. This album helped him launch his career as a renowned jazz keyboardist/pianist\, and later\, he released his second CD (Inter Alia)\, with staggering success \nThis success caught the attention of Black Entertainment Television (BET) founder and businessman Robert L. Johnson\, who invested and partnered with Marcus to establish Marimelj Entertainment Group. Under their partnership\, MEG’s label Three Keys Music housed Studio 8121\, a full-service recording studio\, and two music publishing companies: Marimelj Music Publishing and Three Keys Music Publishing. \nAs head of Three Keys Music\, Johnson produced and released on the Three Keys Music label national jazz artists: Michael Lington\, Jaared Arosemena\, Bobby Lyle\, Nick Colionne\, R&B singer\, Alyson Williams\, neo-soul songstress\, Zahzarah; and smooth jazz Saxophonists Phillip Martin and Brian Lenair. \nTo date\, Marcus has released more than fifteen Billboard charted CDs\, and has the distinction of having his groundbreaking 2008 Billboard Top 20 Contemporary Jazz FLO (For the Love Of) Anthology\, which consisted of three distinct CDs — FLO Chill\, FLO Romance and FLO Standards – all chart Top 10 on Billboard Contemporary Jazz Charts simultaneously. \n  \nPerforming With: Willie Bradley – 6pm\nWillieBradley.net\n \n
